Welcome to choice inn motel

Choice Inn Motel, located at 2212 E Commerce St in San Antonio, Texas, offers travelers a modest yet inviting stay with a solid 3.7-star rating. While the motel’s surrounding industrial neighborhood may not dazzle, its close proximity to downtown and the AT&T Center—with concerts, sports, and the annual rodeo—makes it a practical choice for visitors seeking affordability and convenience.

Guests often comment on the genuine warmth and attentiveness of the motel’s owners. Their hands-on approach enhances the overall experience, turning potential concerns into moments of personalized care. One traveler recounted how a complaint was promptly addressed by the owner himself, illustrating the motel’s commitment to guest satisfaction. This personal touch sets Choice Inn apart in a crowded market.

Rooms at Choice Inn Motel have been noted for their cleanliness and recent renovations. Despite initial doubts based on curb appeal, many guests found their accommodations unexpectedly comfortable. The firm bedding, ample room, and updated smart TVs—with easy streaming capabilities—create a functional and restful environment. Bathrooms surprise with their spacious showers and generously sized sinks, providing a touch of comfort beyond what one might expect at this price point.

While the motel does not offer luxuries such as a pool, fitness center, or a restaurant, it includes essential amenities that modern travelers appreciate, including free Wi-Fi, air conditioning, and free parking. The presence of an unofficial guard dog on the premises offers an added layer of security and comfort for guests. However, small quirks such as charging 25 cents for ice may be off-putting for some, yet they reflect the motel’s effort to maintain services sustainably.

In essence, Choice Inn Motel represents honest, no-frills lodging. It shines through the dedication of its owners and the clean, well-maintained rooms. For travelers prioritizing budget and proximity to San Antonio’s key attractions, it proves a pragmatic and surprisingly comfortable option. Though not glamorous, it earns respect for delivering value with a sincere human touch—a quiet sanctuary amid an unassuming industrial backdrop.

Honestly when we drove in the first thing my son said was "this is creepy". Considering it's the final 4 we were lucky to find a room under $100. We stayed for the weekend and every day our room was cleaned with fresh towels. The owners were extremely friendly especially the wife. I love that the husband looks out for you should you ask. I made a complaint on an issue and he personally came in and assisted in rectifying it. Ima say for the price, location and appearance this place is a diamond in the rough. I will definitely be back here when I'm looking for a downtown spot on a budget.

Highly recommend this place. I stayed here for two nights this week. The room was spacious and fairly clean. Location is convenient. The neighborhood is quite dull but close to downtown. Above of all, the owner proved very flexible (I wanted to stay one extra night but wasn’t sure) and helpful (offered to keep my stuff in my room until I left). Good bang for the buck.

I had a great and comfortable stay here. It was not what we expected at all. My boyfriend took one look at the motel and was upset with me for booking it, but once we opened the door to our room, he immediately changed his mind. Everything was newly renovated and furnished. The bed was pretty firm, but it was still comfy and we didn't find any bedbugs or roaches (which we always find in motels). The owners were really nice and made checking in/out really easy.

So this is where we ended up after our nightmare experience at the Motel 6 on Rittiman. So the area was not exactly the best but this hotel offered a little seclusion from it's surroundings. The hotel looked good from the outside. It was Clean, maintained, had no intimidating loitering and also offered an unofficial guard dog on premises. Dog belonged to the owners who were very present, helpful and big on security. We made our way to our room to get comfortable. Room was very clean, offered a microwave, mini fridge and very very cold AC. The bed was super comfortable sheets were clean, towels we're clean, pillow cases had creases on em, it wasn't bad. Downside? It was a bit outdated, only one way up the second floor only one way down and it had no coffee maker. That in my opinion was the only downside. Don't get me wrong, they had all the necessary amenities, tv with tons of cable channels, wifi , soaps and stuff like that. So going back to what I deem our necessities the outdated ness is really not that big a deal to me. We only needed the place to sleep and it was definitely comfortable. We were only a little over a mile from downtown with made the Lyft ride very inexpensive. Our first night was a Lyft to downtown for dinner and back. Next day we're were up at the crack of dawn and went site seeing. Didn't get back to the room til 830 pm. Last day, before check out,I went for an early morning run to the expway and back. I got back and was on cool down and chatted a bit with the owner and his Shepard mix in the parking lot. I didn't get to comfy with the dog cause she didn't know me but she was not aggressive and followed owner commands always. So, It was refreshing to see the management pulling sheets and collecting linens from the rooms being vacated. Complete 180 degree change from the other place. All in all a humble establishment but I would stay again in a heartbeat.

Rooms are fine, bathroom is nicer than expected with a decent size sink/counter and an extra large shower. TVs are updated to smart models so easily connect accounts or streaming services. They CHARGE FOR ICE! 25 cents every time you fill your little ice holder. Not a lot of $ or anything but I’ve never seen a hotel charge to use the ice machine?! Very close to grocery & convenience shopping, money services (check cashing, banking etc) and downtown is minutes away. Multiple bus stop options right outside the property. No deposit, but pricey for all things considered. I can get an equally nice room in an equally questionable neighborhood for almost half as much a couple miles away, and be closer to the Frost Bank Center. One big complaint: I realized my door was not locking to my room. It would sound like it was latching shut, but you could just reopen it no matter how long you waited without using the key. When I immediately brought this to the office’s attention, they asked if my deadbolt was working (it was..) and therefore there was no problem. I told them I was more concerned about leaving the room and having my belongings unsecured. His solution to that was that “he would keep an eye on my room” and he would personally check the door handle issue. I never saw him again and he never checked it. I just hauled my important stuff with me everywhere I went. Smh.

We were coming to SA for a long-delayed concert (thanks, covid!) I didn't want to drive back north of Austin afterwards, so I reserved a room here a few days in advance. I read the previous reviews, and being a bit run down doesn't scare me at all. The parking can get dicey, luckily my pocket car fit into the last space easily. Check in was easy, and the family is so sweet. Is the place some 5 Star Ritz? Heck no. But, it was clean. The tub was from the 80s at the earliest, spotless. I didn't even see any roaches outside, much less any bugs in the room. The mattress and pillows were fairly new, too. The surrounding area looked a bit questionable, but after the show we noted that it was QUIET. I wouldn't walk around off the grounds at night, but I wouldn't walk around at night in the most expensive area of town either. Ubering to the Alamodome and back cost less than parking would have (WITH tips and on a Saturday night). My biggest disappointment was when we got back from the show, we ordered a pizza that was pretty bad but we were starved. After we had ordered we found a menu for a local place that had all kinds of pizza, gyros, subs, salads, etc on the microwave. We would have ordered from there in a second over the national chain. In all, if and when we have another show at the 'dome, I'm booking this place again. Next time, I'll look for that menu when we drop our stuff so we can plan post-show food.
